Press Releases
Keep updated with the latest news locally, media coverage and news from Parliament.
I have received a letter from National Grid regarding work to dismantle gasholders on the James Bridge site near to Darlaston Road which I have set out below:
Valerie presents petition calling for 20 mph speed limit and traffic calming at Monmouth Rd, Bentley
Before Parliament rose for the Summer Recess on Tuesday 21 July 2015, I presented a petition from residents of Monmouth Road and parents at Bentley West Primary School to Parliament calling for a 20mph speed limit and traffic calming to be introduced on Monmouth Road.
On Monday 20 July 2015 I chaired my first proceedings as a member of the Panel of Chairs, to which I was appointed by Mr Speaker at the start of the current Parliamentary Session.
On Monday 20 July 2015 I voted against the Welfare Reform and Work Bill by voting for Her Majesty’s Opposition Labour Party’s Reasoned Amendment. This is a Parliamentary device which enables MPs to vote against a Bill when there are elements of that Bill which we do not wish to oppose. The Reasoned Amendment was necessary as the Government had used the political tactic of including provisions in the Bill which Labour strongly supports with provisions Labour strongly opposes.
I launched a campaign for 20mph zones outside all schools in Walsall South in the Summer Adjournment Debate on 16 July 2015.
