On Monday 17 November 2014 the Church of England voted to allow women to become bishops. Valerie tabled a EDM to mark this historic occasion.
On Tuesday 18 November 2014, the House of Commons Governance of the House Committee, of which Valerie is a member, heard evidence from Rt Hon Andrew Lansley MP, Rt Hon Sir George Young MP, and Mr Frank Doran MP; Michael Whitehouse, Chief Operating Officer, National Audit Office.
On Tuesday 18 November 2014, Valerie voted to protect local businesses from the predatory practices of large pub owning companies (known as pubcos) by backing a new cross-party clause to the Small Business Bill.
On Tuesday 18 November 2014, the Health Select Committee, of which Valerie is a member, heard evidence from Dame Kate Barker, Chair of the Commission on the Future of Health and Social Care as part of the Committee's inquiry into public expenditure on health and social care. On Saturday 15 November 2014 Valerie attended a thanksgiving Mass at St Mary’s The Mount, Walsall to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Sister Edith’s 25 years of her First Religious Profession.
