On Tuesday 19 March 2013, the Health Select Committee of which Valerie Vaz MP, is a member heard evidence from Gary Walker, former Chief Executive of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust and David Bowles, former Chair of the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. This session was a continuation of the Select Committee’s inquiry into the Francis Report on the failings at the Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust.

On Thursday 14 March 2013, Valerie spoke in a Backbench Business debate on the accountability and transparency in the NHS.
On Friday 15 March 2013, Valerie visited Abu Bakr Girl's School to promote the 'Heartstart' Emergency Lifesaving Skills programme.
