On Friday 12 July 2013, Valerie voted for a motion that requires the Government to have the explicit prior consent of Parliament before the UK can provide more than non-lethal support to anti-governmental forces in Syria. The motion passed 114 votes to 1.
On Tuesday 9 July 2013 Valerie raised the issue of transaction cost between Governmental Departments in Attorney General Questions intervening on a question on the benefits expected by the merger of departmental legal advisers into the Treasury Solicitor’s Department.
At Communities and Local Government Questions on Monday 8 July 2013, Valerie raised the issue of empty sites which have planning permission for housing but which are not being developed.
On Thursday 4 July 2013, Valerie Vaz Member of Parliament for Walsall South wrote to the Secretary of State for Defence regarding the planned closure of Gordon House where the Territorial Army is based in Walsall.
On July 5 1948 the NHS was founded by the Labour Government that recognised the need for a health service in Britain that was available to everyone. Valerie tabled an Early Day Motion celebrating the 65th anniversary of the NHS.
