Valerie attended the 21st Libraries Change Lives Awards in Westminsteron Tuesday 27 January 2012. The event was organised by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). The awards were open to all UK Library services and each project was judged according to criteria including; partnership working; meeting local needs and evidence of changing lives.
Students from Walsall College met with Valerie on Friday 22 June 2012 . They are concerned about the Government's plans to require students aged over 24 studying for A-Level equivalent qualifications to take out loans to pay their course fees.
On Friday 22 June 2012, Valerie held a meeting with residents of Stafford Road, Darlaston and Council Officers to discuss ongoing problems with traffic, the road surface, parking and noise.
On Thursday 21 June 2012, Valerie met Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in the Speaker's State Rooms at the House of Commons following Daw Suu Kyi's address to both houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall.
On 19 June 2012, Valerie Vaz MP questioned the Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude MP, about his newly published Civil Service Reform Plan.
