On Thursday 19th January 2012, Valerie attended the launch of a report in the House of Commons organised by Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, to highlight their new report, Preventing Babies' Deaths: What Needs To Be Done.
On Sunday 15 January 2012 Valerie was a guest on the first BBC Sunday Politics West Midlands in its new format.
On Wednesday 14th December 2011, Valerie attended a lunch at the House of Commons to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Reverend Jesse Jackson.
Valerie asked the Prime Minister to reinstate funding for the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (UKRC) during Prime Minister’s Questions on 11 January 2012.
On Tuesday 20th December 2011, Valerie took part in a pre-recess Adjournment Debate in the House of Commons on Planning in Walsall South and the National Planning Policy Framework. Following the debate, Valerie presented a petition of 263 signatures to Parliament regarding the development at 1 Woodside Close.
