On 22nd June Valerie asked the Prime Minister to increase Government support for people with epilepsy and related conditions.
Valerie is encouraging people in Walsall South to nominate someone who has made a difference to the community to be a Torchbearer during the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.
To mark Carers Week (13th-19th June), Valerie visited Ms Patricia Rolston at her home in Bentley on Saturday 11th June. Ms Rolston is the sole full-time carer for her daughter, Lyndsey Ball. Ms Ball suffers from severe learning difficulties and has frequent epileptic fits.
On Sunday 12th June, Valerie marked Diabetes Week 2011 by taking part in a sponsored walk at Walsall Arboretum in aid of Diabetes UK. Despite the heavy rain, more than 150 people turned out to show their support for the charity.
On Friday 10th June, Valerie visited the Hydratight headquarters in Bentley to meet with the company's president, Jan de Konig, and to see some of the skilled manufacturing work undertaken at the site.
