On Tuesday 2 July 2013 Valerie met with Niall Dickson, Chief Executive of the General Medical Council (GMC).
Valerie said:
“The General Medical Council registers doctors to practise medicine in the UK. Their role is also to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine.”
“The GMC have recently published two booklets, one for doctors and one for patients. The first is ‘Good Medical Practice’ which lays out the duties of a doctor who is registered with the GMC. The second is ‘What to expect from your doctor: a guide for patients’ which sets out how patients can recieve the best care from their doctor through creating a partnership with them and also what the patient should expect from their doctor.”
