Valerie asks a question at Justice Questions

The former Justice Secretary Chris Grayling MP had previously banned relatives sending packages of books to inmates, as well as restricting the number of books present in each cell. The next Justice Secretary, Michael Gove MP, overturned this policy in 2015.

At Justice Questions, on Tuesday 6 September, I asked this question to the Secretary of State for Justice:

Valerie Vaz MP: Will the Secretary of State confirm that there will be no return to the policy of banning books for prisoners?

Elizabeth Truss MP: I confirm that books are freely available in prison.
