On Sunday 13th November 2011, Valerie attended the Remberance Sunday events at the Cenotaphs in Walsall Town Centre and in Darlaston. Valerie took part in the services and laid wreaths in memory of the fallen.
At Walsall Town Centre, Valerie took part in the Civic Procession from the Council House to the Cenotaph.
Valerie said:
“The Remembrance events at Walsall and Darlaston were very moving. People of all ages turned out to remember the fallen. Amongst those in attendance were veterans of the Second World War and also of the more recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
“As the First and Second World Wars become ever more distant memories, it is increasingly important that we continue our acts of remembrance. Most people in Britain today have no personal experience of war, but we are all beneficiaries of the sacrifices made by so many on our behalf.”
