Valerie calls for an urgent statement on Care.Data

At Business Questions to the leader of the House I raised the issue of the ending of the care.data scheme. The Government published the Caldicott report into the scheme on Wednesday 6 July 2016 on the same day as the Chilcot Report.

As a Member of the Health Select Committee from 2010-2015, I heard evidence on the Care.Data programme. Owing to our concerns on patient information being available the Scheme was paused in 2014 and the Caldicott Review was set up.
 

Valerie Vaz MP: May we have an urgent statement on care data? The Government announced today that there were scrapping the scheme. We need to know how much it cost the public purse, and whether all our constituents’ information will be shredded.
