On Tuesday 19 April 2016, I chaired a Westminster Hall debate on Unaccompanied Children. The debate was moved by Mr David Burrowes MP.
The debate focused on the UK’s responsibility to separated children as they arrive in this country, whether they come by means of a formal resettlement plan or whether they come via irregular routes into the United Kingdom.
There is an ongoing campaign, following an amendment tabled by Lord Dubs, for 3,000 unaccompanied children to be accepted to the UK in addition to previous requirements. The Minister James Brokenshire responded on behalf of the Government.
