After being re-elected at the General Election on May 7th I was sworn in this week as the Member of Parliament for Walsall South by taking an oath of allegiance to the Queen in the House of Commons.
Every MP, new and returning, must swear on a sacred text – in my case the Bible – or take an oath of affirmation before we can formally take our seats.
Although the ceremony was quickly over, it meant a great deal to me to take the oath as MP for Walsall South and get back to work again.
