On Wednesday 25 March 2015 Valerie attended the celebration of Vaisakhi at the House of Commons.
Valerie said:
“The Vaisahki celebrations in Parliament is early but it gave Parliamentarians and the community together to commemorate the year 1699 when Sikhism became a collective faith, and also marks the start of the Sikh New Year.”
“316 years ago Guru Gobind Singh Ji initiated the Sikhs into the Khalsa (the brotherhood) at Anandpur Sahib. This bound Sikhs to a strict code of conduct and respect for humanity and for nature.”
“This year I hope to attend Vaisakhi celebrations in Walsall South. “
