On Friday 25 October 2013, Valerie Vaz MP, Walsall South, launched the new 310 bus in Darlaston, which will connect Willenhall, Darlaston and Wednesbury with Dudley and the Merry Hill shopping centre.
Valerie Vaz MP said:
“I was very pleased to be able to launch the new 310 bus route. The 310 replaces the 327 which ran from Willenhall to Wednesbury, via Darlaston. Buses are a vital service for many people and I know that residents will value the new connection to the Merry Hill shopping centre.”
“The route of the 310 has been changed from that of the 327 so that it will no longer travel along Stafford Road in Darlaston. This removes a total of 21 buses every day from Stafford Road, which is a narrow residential street and is unable to cope with large numbers of buses. I campaigned with residents to have the number of buses using Stafford Road reduced and organised a meeting for residents with Ms Babs Coombes, Centro Area Manager for the Black Country. The meeting was productive and shortly afterwards, Ms Coombes contacted me to say that the route would be removed from Stafford Road.”
“I am delighted that Centro has found a solution and has worked with Arriva to divert this service. Residents want buses and need their bus services but the residents of Stafford Road have had to endure the disruption of numerous buses passing their homes every hour. This was very disruptive for the residents.”
