I met with Mark Hoda of Shaw Trust on Monday 5 February 2018. Shaw Trust is the largest third sector provider for existing employability and learning and skills programmes. It support 50,000 people a year across the UK to enter work and lead independent lives, and plans to transform the lives of a million people a year by 2022.
Shaw Trust will deliver the Work and Health Programme (WHP) in Walsall South.
The WHP delivers specialised, tailored employment support, fully joined up with local health and support services, to people with disabilities or health conditions, and others who have been unemployed for over 2 years.
Through the Disability Confident Scheme, businesses are encouraged to adopt more inclusive working practices and recognise the value of employing disabled people. Shaw Trust has been awarded ‘Disability Confident Leader’ status in recognition of its commitment to inclusive practice.
Shaw Trust aims to provide people in Walsall South with the tools for success, with continuing review and feedback and also in work support to help empower individuals.
