On Sunday 25 May 2014, Valerie presented prizes at the Khalsa Football Federation Tournament.
Valerie said:
“This was a very exciting tournament ending in a final which went into extra time and a penalty shoot out. The winners were Leicester but Wolverhampton were so unlucky, coming from 3-0 down and scoring 3 amazing goals. There were some very talented footballers. This was a well organised event and supported by sponsors including Walsall MBC, 5 Rivers restaurant, Murria Solicitors and Sunny Electricals. The Gurdwaras in Pleck and Caldmore also gave their support.”
“It was good to see the youth hockey team. The winners were Sutton Coldfield Hockey Club which included girls and boys in their team. I am looking forward to seeing a girls football team next year.”
The Khalsa Football Federation hosts a variety of events and initiatives to encourage young Asians to get involved in football, along with other sports. They have partners across various footballing cities including Chelsea, Derby County, Leicester City and Walsall, as well as backing from the FA and local County FA’s to promote ethnic diversity within sports.
