On Thursday 15 May 2014, Valerie was on the panel of judges for the Speaker’s School Council Awards 2014. The photograph shows the student judges Wade and Robin who took time out from their A levels to attend,

Valerie said:
“I was delighted to participate in the shortlisting of these awards. The Education Service did a great job shortlisting the large numbers of entries and the panel judged the entries with the final decision made by Mr Speaker. The Speaker’s School Council Awards encourages children of all ages to enter a project or contribution they have made to the school leading to a positive change for the school. Every entrant wins a certificate from the Speaker for their efforts, runners up receive a commemorative plaque for their school and the winner is invited to the House of Commons to receive the winner’s trophy from the Speaker”.
