On Sunday 22 March 2015 Valerie watched Walsall FC in the Final of the Johnstone Paint Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.
Valerie Vaz MP said:
“I was pleased to join the 30,000 Walsall FC supporters who made the trip to Wembley on Sunday. The Saddlers can be pleased that they made it to the final stage of the competition and played at Wembley for the first time in the Club’s 127-year history.”
“Walsall’s supporters added to the atmosphere especially when the team was down a goal. While the result was not the one we were hoping for this is still a fantastic achievement for the Club, players and the manager Dean Smith.”
“The experience of playing in front of 72,000 supporters can be the inspiration needed to help the Saddler’s young players develop and win the competition next year. Richard O’Donnell made a few great saves to keep Walsall in the match. There were moments where Walsall showed potential which gives the Saddlers hope for next season.”
“Walsall FC playing at Wembley will inspire more children and young people from the local community to play grassroots football.”
