On Saturday 3rd May 2014, Valerie was in the stands to watch the game between Walsall and Colchester United at Bank’s Stadium.
Valerie said:
“I was pleased to be invited by the chairman Stefan Gamble for Walsall FC’s final match of the season against Colchester. The pitch was in very good condition despite the fact that it was the end of the season. Unfortunately Colchester managed to score a goal against the run of play to give them the win. Adam Chambers was rightly given the Man of the Match award, chasing after every ball and supporting his team. There was some excellent passing and I am looking forward to the games next season. Walsall have much to be proud of this season.”
Walsall finished the season in 13th place in League One. They gathered 58 points in the process, having won 14, drawn 16 & lost 16. Craig Westcarr finished as Walsall’s top scorer in the league with 16 goals, Mal Benning claimed the club’s Young Player of the Year award, and midfielder Sam Mantom picked up the Player of the Season award.
