The High Commissioner for Bangladesh, Saida Muna Tasneem accepted my invitation to visit Masjid-E-Usman on Mount Street on Sunday 13 October 2019. Her excellency attended with the Assistant High Commissioner Mr Nazmul Hoque who encouraged people to contact the High Commission directly. There is a 24/7 helpline.
The Bangladesh community has made an important contribution both in the UK and Walsall. This not only covers the restaurant business but also media, legal finance and politics with my colleagues Rushnara Ali MP, Tulip Siddique MP and Rupa Huq MP sitting in Parliament. In 2 years’ time there will be the 50 year celebrations for the birth of the Bangladesh nation under the founder and first Prime Minister Banga Bhundu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
I hope that the Bangladeshi community continues to flourish and contribute to the culture of Walsall South.
