On Friday 14 September 2012, Valerie visited the Walsall MyPlace youth centre in Palfrey and was shown around the Centre by director Chris Cruise – Taylor.
Valerie said:
“I was delighted to visit the Walsall MyPlace youth centre in Palfrey. MyPlace offers young people a variety of activities to take part in during their spare time as well as a wide range of advice services delivered by a number of different public and private sector providers.”
“It is vital that young people feel that they are part of the community and have a real stake in it. MyPlace plays a crucial role in this respect, linking young people with each other and also with health, educational and practical resources. Offering advice services direct to young people offers them an extra degree of independence and control over their lives. The work carried out there to engage local young people and give them a stake in the local community is vital.”
“Walsall MyPlace is located in an impressive brand new eco-friendly building which offers young people a pleasant and safe environment. It was clear from speaking with the young people I met that Walsall MyPlace is already enriching their lives.”
